Intro:
Next up we see a battle of Germany against Russia inside the ring. Lorena Rae (2-3) has had a few successes in this year's Diamond Boxing Tournament. Valery Kaufman (4-1) though is the one who might have the most headlines as she probably wasn't one of the favourites in the tournament, yet she sits second place in the table. Saint Louis's Enterprise Center hosts this bout.
Before the bout both got a chance to say what they were thinking about this contest. Lorena did her video at her home, sitting on her sofa as she sits wearing a black tank top and black shorts. She sits crossed legged as she smiles.
"I am looking forwards to fighting Valery. I've seen all the praise she has been getting off pundits and honestly it will be so satisfying to humiliate her in the ring. She isn't anywhere near as good as her record shows" says Lorena with a smirk. Not lacking confidence even with her record.
While Valery sits outside a coffee shop wearing a purple dress with a smile as she takes a drink of her cup. Putting it down to tell the camera "Bridgette (Satterlee) I hope you aren't crying too much after our bout. All muscle and no brains honey." Giggling to herself.
She then says "Lorena I haven't forgotten you. There's no way I am worried about you. I am going to show why I am still going to win this tournament." Taking a drink again as she winks to the camera in a cheeky manner.
Fight night! Lorena is out first with her coach Gina Wild. She walks down to the ring looking focused. Climbing into the ring wearing a black sports bra, matching gloves and shoes, black trunks with a white eagle design on the left leg, hair tied into a ponytail. She gets told off Gina to batter the Russian bytch. Making Lorena grin as she nods that she plans too.
Valery now walks down to the ring with her coach behind her. She looks relaxed as she shakes her arms before getting into the ring. She is wearing a scarlet red sports bra, matching trunks and shoes, white gloves, her hair is also in a ponytail. Valery taps her cheeks before bouncing on her toes looking up for this.
Walking to the middle of the ring. They stare intensely at each other as the instructions are told to them. They do touch gloves with a little extra power then needed. They jog back to their corners before the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
Both women step out their corners with single punches being exchanged. Lorena dips under a jab to land a right into the belly button of Valery. She is pressing forwards now working in tight to Valery to push her back. Valery nudges off Lorena, landing a few two punch combos as she boxes off her back foot.
A straight catches Valery on her nose before a left hook follows up onto her jaw. Lorena drives Valery onto the ropes, trying to pin her down with a barrage of punches. Valery firing back but soon enough she needs to hold onto her opponent to slow her down. Referee splitting them up as heads are grinded.
The fight resumes with Valery landing a few nice counter punches as Lorena is rushing a little too much. The round comes to an end with Kaufman knowing she let Lorena come at her too easily. Lorena meanwhile gets a nod from Gina to show the coach was happy enough with her workrate.
Round 2:
Doubling up her jab as she comes out. Valery is looking to keep the action at range. The fighters circling around the center as they look to grab control. Lorena lands a few short hooks to the body of Valery when she can move in closer in the opening minute.
Valery catches Lorena with a jab/straight combo through to her forehead to snap her head back. Valery gets go hold the middle of the ring. Lorena being outworked around the perimeter of the ring. Valery looking in full flow as she shows off her hand speed.
More hooks come from Kaufman as confidence is starting to run through her. Lorena does catch her at times with straight punches through to the face of Valery. The round comes to a close with Valery jogging back to her corner with arms in the air as her fans cheer her. Lorena taps her cheeks as she returns to her own corner.
Round 3:
Again Valery is out the gates quickly behind her jab. The cheeks of Lorena looks to have a little pink hue forming on them. Lorena stabbing more punches around the chest of Valery to push her back a few steps. Late in the opening minute Valery smacks Lorena with a left hook near her temple to make her retreat back.
Lorena finds herself having to cover up more tightly as Valery is throwing multiple combinations. Valery mixing up her punches nicely as she is showing the improvement she has made over this year. Lorena landing mostly single punches as she tries to find a way back at her opponent.
Under a minute to go. Valery does get caught by a few overhand shots around her cheeks. Lorena manages to get in closer with both going toe to toe on the dying moments of the round. The bell dings with both walking back to their corners looking fired up. Lorena takes a breath before she sits down to keep herself calm after another bad round.
Round 4:
They push back off their stools to engage. Lorena being more aggressive, ducking down and weaving more to dodge so she can get in closer. They exchange several hard hits as feet are being planted more. Lorena lands an uppercut to knock back her opponent to her heels.
Lorena muscles back Valery into a neutral corner. Working the body of Valery as she swings through her hips to make the Russian groan with each hit. Grabbing hold of Lorena to slow her down, Valery is glad to be able to get out the corner after the referee splits them up.
Resuming around the middle of the ring. Lorena trying to keep the pressure on her foe but is getting caught again as Valery is getting her rhthym back. The round ends with both women returning to their corners with coaches wiping them down.
Round 5:
Fighting around the center as Lorena is trying to step in. Instead she is getting caught with several crisp counters across her face. A RIGHT SLAMS ACROSS THE TEMPLE OF LORENA TO BUCKLE HER KNEES! A LEFT/RIGHT HOOK COMBO PUTS LORENA ONTO HER BACKSIDE!
Valery walks over to the neutral corner with a little swagger to her step. 1....2....3....4... Lorena shakes her head to clear the fog around it. 5....6... Pushing up to her knees. 7....8... With a little wobble she stands up. Fists are up and she assures the referee she can fight on.
Allowed to continue, Lorena doesn't look to have much spring to her step. Punches are landing flush through her guard to her face. Back to the ropes she goes after being smacked by a three punch combo to her face. VALERY PILES THE PRESSURE ON TILL IN COMES THE TOWEL FROM THE BLACK EAGLE CORNER! REFEREE SPOTS IT AND STOPS THE FIGHT!
Winner Valery Kaufman TKO Round 5
After:
Valery kisses her gloves before raising them into the air. Strutting around the ring as second place in this tournament is assured now. She gets a hug from her coach when she returns to her corner as she smiles. She has found her mojo in this tournament.
Lorena on the other hand has a glassy look to her eyes. She returns back to her corner with help from the referee. Gina looks annoyed as she shakes her head at having to throw the towel in. She looks miffed that Lorena keeps on not being able to build any momentum in the ring.
Once Lorena has her bearings she is helped out of the ring. Walking to the backstage area. She has chance at a form of redemption in her last tournament bout as she has to take on Jesinta Campbell. The winner of that bout will at least move up to sixth place.
In the ring Valery walks to the middle of the ring to get her right hand raised in victory. She blows kisses to the nearest camera before she heads out the ring. Valery has been a real success story in this tournament. She still has a chance to win the whole thing if Antje Utgaard slips up and loses her two remaining bouts. While Valery has a date with Alexandria Morgan in her last bout. She'll be rooting heavily for Lorella Boccia in the main event. |
